The new £8.5 million leisure centre in Ladywood is due to throw open its doors in July 2019. Construction of the centre on land between Icknield Port Road and Ladywood Middleway is well underway with the outside of the building already completed.

When it opens in the summer, it will have a 130-station gym, with the latest fitness equipment – including machines like treadmills and cross-trainers you can pair with your mobile phone.

Ladywood Leisure Centre will be run for the city council by Birmingham Community Leisure Trust (BCLT). The centre is next to the exciting new Port Loop development next to Edgbaston Reservoir. It is on the site of the former Ladywood Swimming Pool.

This will have 1,150 homes, a one-acre park and a “waterbus” which takes passengers into the city centre via the canal.
